PREFACE
Due to the geographical location of our district and its surroundings, it has been home to many different civilizations since ancient times, preserving a rich cultural heritage in both historical and archaeological terms. There are between 30 and 40 ancient cities in our region, with the most famous being Xantos, Patara, Antiphellos, Kekova, and Myra. These cities attract an increasing number of tourists each year, who admire their well-preserved sites. In addition to these well-known cities, there are also lesser-known areas that still remain undiscovered, yet hold significant historical, archaeological, and natural beauty, offering great potential for future tourism development. In terms of alternative tourism, the region also offers trekking and hiking opportunities in the Bezirgan villages, while rafting is another ideal activity for tourists. The tourism season in Kaş and its surrounding areas is extended, with the region benefiting from abundant sunshine, beautiful beaches, and fine sand. Tourists who visit Kaş not only enjoy the natural beauty but also experience the rich culture, history, and vibrant social life. The tourism potential of the region needs to be organized and planned carefully. In our hometown, the tourism sector has not been fully recognized in all its aspects, presenting both commercial and cultural opportunities. Tourism has evolved into a sector that emphasizes cultural, social, and natural values, benefiting both the local population and the industry.
The human factor is one of the most crucial elements influencing tourism service capability and demand. Tourism, once considered a minor industry, has now become a giant sector in all over the world. Our country, and especially our region, holds rich and precious values in terms of tourism resources. The necessary studies should be carefully conducted to identify these values and present them within a structured program.
 The aim of this program is to assess the potential tourism values of Kaş, including natural and archaeological assets, transport opportunities, and tourist facilities, as well as its socio-economic and cultural structure. This study seeks to offer a closer understanding of Kaş and its culture. In recent years, the demand for diving and paragliding has rapidly grown. Along with research and statistical data vital for the tourism sector. The motivation behind preparing this book stemmed from the desire to create a peaceful environment and encourage peace among people.
