The discussions of music in Turkey appears in two different levels that oppose to each other. Especially in the considerations on Western music, Western music is considered as a specific thechnique independent from its historical, social, political features and given superiority (against the Eastern Music). In this discussion, technique is regarded as the starting point of music. Indeed the technique of music should be taken as a starting point. Instead of considering technique independent from society and history, explaining it with society would give the chance of explaining the changes in technique of music. As an accumulation of knowledge increase, music also has changed and techniques of music which facilitates to express questions better. It will be said that western music technically developed and became poliphony and it will be stressed that western music is better in form more than stressing that the development in western music.
